Vidyashankara Temple

Built in 1338 AD, Sri Vidyashankara Temple in Sringeri is a unique monument flaunting both Chalukya and Dravidian style of architecture.
It has a Mandapa on the eastern side with 12 pillars marked by all 12 signs of the zodiac in the same order. They are built in a way that the rays of sun fall in a chronological order of the twelve months of the Hindu calendar.
